Split up Mazda class? (car) - 2007/06/29 22:27 Hey all,
Been involved with the show forever, even used to deejay it
Would it be possible to seperate out the rotaries and the rest of the class? I don't see why rx8's, rx7's, etc. should be competing with Mazda 3's and Protege's, they're totally different cars with totally different drivetrains/purpose/etc. It doesn't make sense to lump them all together. I'd also like to mention that in Heatwaves of old, people seemed to get more credit for at least having their ride opened up at a show, much less detailed/cleaned/etc. to a ridiculously high level. Last year I lost to a car that was closed up all weekend, while mine remained fully open and on display all weekend.(I don't even know who won my class)
I would have thought the extra effort it requires to clean your car/truck inside and out, put up some kind of display for it etc. should count for a lot more than someone who just shows up wtih the outside clean and everything else shut. I know when I used to judge we didn't award points for that so it was impossible to place higher than another car in the same class with more on display, has that changed now or? Just throwing in my 2 cents, I'll be there this year competing even if I don't stand a chance to place with the way things are set up currently
