Split VW class, watercooler and aircooled - 2007/03/05 15:38 I was at South Padre Heatwave. Please, split the VW class into two. Even the other VW guys there were very upset with the outcome of the VW class. You guys slipt the Mustang Class, Chevy Class and other classes due to the classics. There was an old beautiful Bug, baby blue, who did not win anything, and lost to a STOCK watercooled VW. I also lost to 3 stock watercooled VWs, all new, and the one that got first place VW, had a 100% stock car, no rims, no mods, nothing! It was brand new. How does that win a car show? I can understand a mint condition 1970 Mustang winning, but a new car winning against a classic with hundreds of mods and engine swap does not make sense.

I was not happy with my judge at all. I have a 1968 VW, and I asked why I did not even place, seeing how I have about 150 different mods to it. He said that I have rust on it. I mean, come on man, it is a 1968, not a 2005 Jetta. Give me a break.

The judge had also said it was a kit car, which it is not. It is 90% steel, some fiberglass, etc.... But it is in no way a kit car. That judge did not know anything about it, and swore it was a kit car. Also, the judge clamied the engine in my Ghia was not a 1600, but it is. He claimed all VW with 1600cc engine had dual port intakes. This is not true and I have proof. I just recently had my engine rebuilt and everything, so I know everything about it.
